Bikash's father was a percussionist and a weaver. His family is well known in the village for weaving and for their legacy of having the most talented percussionists in one house. Bikash took his lessons in percussion from his maternal grandfather. His mother brough him up by practising bandha (tying) work. He started working when he was 12 years old. Bikash does both tye- dyeing and weaving. Bikash studied till 10th standard. He was 19 when he wen to Surat to work in the textile company. He couldn't leave his mother alone which is why he had to come back to the weave. After he returned he started to learn how to weave.
